Extra Chocolate Brownies

Fudgy, thick brownies with a layer of melted chocolate on top


These are the fudgiest brownies I've ever made, and I used to keep this recipe handwritten and stuck to my fridge for when I needed something to take to gatherings in a pinch. I ate three brownies during the course of writing this post, just so you know.

You'll need:
  • 1 c flour
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1/4 c cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 c chocolate chips

Whisk or sift together the dry ingredients - flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Make a well in the middle and add the oil, eggs, and vanilla. Mix completely.

Pour into an 8x8 greased pan. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top of the brownies. Bake at 350 about 30 minutes, then cool completely before cutting.

Mix it up:
  • Stir the chocolate chips into the batter before adding it to the pan for creamier brownies
  • Try adding mix-ins like Oreos (or flavored Oreos like Mint!)
