This is my mother's classic bridal shower / baby shower / baby party appetizer that she would bring. It's not a normal seeming recipe, I get it. I will say - the original calls for Miracle Whip, which is no one's favorite, but one time I made it with mayo and my husband was like, why does this taste wrong? So yes, it goes into it, but if you are someone opposed to it, just use mayo. You'll lose the tang, but you won't miss it :)
Have I gotten complaints about my tuna recipe for adding sugar? Yes. But I don't add celery because celery is the worst, so sugar makes up for the sweetness that celery usually contributes. If you don't add it - you'll wish you had.
You'll need:
- 2 - 5 oz cans chunk light tuna (packed in water, preferably)
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 1/2 c miracle whip (or mayo)
- 3 Tbs pickled jalapenos
- 2 tsp mustard
- 2 tsp dill relish
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- salt, to taste
Drain the tuna and add to a food processor. Add remaining ingredients and blend, scraping sides as needed, until smooth.
Spread onto white bread and cut crusts off, then slice diagonally twice (into 4 triangles) to make bocaditos for finger food... or keep in the fridge and serve with crackers for a snack :)
