These treats take a little more elbow grease than the Nutter Butter ghosts, but can look as festive as you want depending on your decorating skills. I use a sandwich bag as a piping bag here - just leave it unsealed so air can escape, and cut the hole in the corner very small so you can draw intricately with it.
You'll need:
- 30 Oreo cookies
- 2 - 12 oz bags orange candy melts
- 1/4 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
In a microwave, melt the orange candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30 second intervals on high, stirring after each, until smooth.
Use a fork to dip the Oreo cookies into the melts, turning until coated, then move them to a wax-lined baking sheet. Let them sit about an hour, until dry to the touch.
Melt the chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe bowl in 30 second increments on high, until smooth. Spoon the chocolate into a sandwich bag and cut a tiny hole in one corner of the bottom.
Carefully draw eyes, mouth, and a stem on the pumpkin Oreo cookies.
Let set overnight until dry.
Mix it up:
- Use whatever Oreos you want - I used mega stuff, for example, but you could use whatever type, or even vanilla or flavored ones. I hear there's a carrot cake variety out there?
- Similarly, any chocolate chips will do! I melted the minis, but use what you've got on hand, whether it's milk chocolate, semi-sweet, or whatever.
