If you want to try something different this Thanksgiving, skip the jelly and try this raw cranberry relish instead. Think of it as pico de gallo with cranberries instead of tomatoes. If you're sensitive to heat, cut back the jalapenos or cut them out completely. And be sure to make this the day before so it really has a chance to come together.
You'll need:
- 12 oz fresh cranberries
- Zest from one orange (or 2 limes)
- 2 large jalapenos, stems and seeds removed
- 1/4 c candied ginger
- 1/4 c pitted dates (about 5 large dates)
- 1/4 c cilantro
- 3 Tbs honey
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
Combine all ingredients in a food processor. Pulse until combined but still chunky.
Refrigerate overnight. Serve cold or at room temperature.
Mix it up:
- Leave in jalapeno seeds to make it even spicier - or use serranos to kick it up another notch.
- Add 1/4 tsp cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice for an added festive flavor,
